Book distribution to schools
Somali Family Services partnered with Books for Africa, Counterpart International and UNICEF to deliver much needed textbooks, books, and other resources to the Puntland community. SFS allows all comers to use the Puntland Library and Resource Center in order to read or borrow the books. A total of 3,024 citizens accessed the Library over the course of 6 months–956 women and 2,168 men—while efforts are underway to encourage more women to utilize the library and resources available in the Center. As well, SFS distributed various books to other NGOs and learning institutions (such as PSU, GTEC, East Africa University, and Nugaal University) across Garowe. Our books reached all 8 regions of Puntland (Nugaal, Karkaar, Bari, Highland, Sanaag, Sool, Cayn and Cayn). 5,278 books have been distributed to different institutions.
