Promoting and Supporting Training on Human Rights and Justice Administration.
Somali Family Services hosted Human Rights training organized by UNSOM Human rights section in collaboration with the office of the Attorney General’s office in Puntland. The three day training for prosecutors and investigators on human rights in the administration of justice was attended by head of UNSOM Puntland MR Omar Aboud who addressed the prosecutors and investigators about elements of good justice and rule of law. The training that was held in Puntland Library Resource Center Garowe town commenced on 2nd and will end 4th December.
In accordance with the Section’s work plan, the expected accomplishment for organizing the workshop was geared towards increased compliance of all States entities with international human rights standards, while the specific goal was to strengthen the capacity of the Participants and develop the skills of human rights applicable to their professions. The training comprised of pre-training assessments, direct participation through presentation of lectures, group discussions and exercises. Some of the topics covered included.
The training also covered Human rights protection at national, regional and international levels, Independence and Impartiality of Prosecutors. General concepts and principles of fair trial and provisions relating to Fair Trial, women’s rights (as victims & suspects) in the Administration of Justice, Child offenders and the Administration of Justice.
