Empowering Marginalized Groups

Empowering Marginalized Groups

Our Vision for Marginalized Groups

Somali Family Services (SFS) believes that every Somali has a vital role in the country’s security and development. Since its establishment in 2003, SFS has been dedicated to engaging and empowering marginalized groups often excluded from discussions and decisions that shape Somalia’s future. These efforts focus on empowering youth, women, girls, and internally displaced persons (IDPs) while providing opportunities for their voices to be heard and needs addressed.

Empowering Youth

The exclusion of youth from decision-making processes, coupled with limited access to education and job opportunities, creates conditions that foster violence and instability.

Uplifting Women

Traditionally, women in Somali society have been excluded from decision-making and often face systemic rights violations.

Supporting Girls

FS places special emphasis on empowering Somali girls, ensuring their active participation in youth-focused initiatives and creating tailored programs.

Our Vision for Marginalized Groups

Through all its initiatives, SFS strives to ensure that marginalized groups—youth, women, girls, and IDPs—play a meaningful role in Puntland’s political and economic development. By empowering these individuals, SFS promotes inclusivity, equity, and the collective advancement of Somali society.
