GBV/Child Protection/PSEA
Somali Family Services (SFS) has launching protection programme in South West State. The programme targets IDPs and the host community on gender based violence, child protection and prevention sexual exploitation abuse (PSEA). Gender is a complex and often controversial topic. At times it may even generate resistance by participants to deal with it; sometimes this can be noticed by high levels of giggling and joking during the training. Managing resistance constructively requires trainers to listen well and to be attentive to the group atmosphere. Most importantly it requires trainers to facilitate a climate in which participants can express all their thoughts, reservations and fears freely without being judged. Usually, participants value the chance to express their own thoughts and experiences if they feel that their responses are valued.
