Peacebuilding & Social Cohesion
SFS promotes peace and social cohesion through community dialogue, conflict resolution, and inclusive participation of youth and women. Programmes support mediation, prevent violent extremism, and strengthen early warning systems to address conflict risks. Through reintegration support, cultural initiatives, and media engagement, SFS fosters trust, reduces tensions, and builds resilient, peaceful communities.
Priority Areas:
Community Dialogue Platforms
We facilitate inclusive dialogue forums that bring together diverse community groups. These platforms address grievances, resource disputes, and social tensions. Structured dialogue promotes mutual understanding and collective problem-solving. Community-led engagement reduces conflict risks.
Inter-Clan Mediation & Conflict Resolution
We support locally led mediation processes to prevent and resolve disputes. Elders, women, and youth are engaged in structured peace processes. Our approach strengthens traditional and formal conflict resolution mechanisms. Peaceful dispute resolution promotes long-term stability.
Youth Peace Ambassadors Programs
We train and mentor young leaders to promote tolerance and non-violence. Youth ambassadors lead community awareness campaigns and dialogue initiatives. The program channels youth energy toward constructive civic engagement. Empowered youth are critical to sustainable peace.
Prevention of Violent Extremism (PVE)
We address drivers of radicalization through community engagement, education, and economic inclusion. Programs strengthen resilience against recruitment by extremist groups. We promote positive identity, dialogue, and opportunity pathways. Prevention efforts are community-centered and evidence-informed.
Reintegration of Returnees & Ex-Combatants
We support the social and economic reintegration of returnees and individuals disengaging from armed groups. Assistance includes psychosocial support, livelihood opportunities, and community reconciliation processes. Reintegration reduces stigma and marginalization. Stable reintegration strengthens community cohesion.
Cultural & Sports-Based Social Cohesion Initiatives
We use sports, arts, and cultural activities to bridge divides and promote unity. These platforms encourage teamwork, dialogue, and positive interaction among diverse groups. Youth engagement is central to these initiatives. Shared activities strengthen social bonds.
Early Warning & Community Conflict Monitoring
We support community-based systems to identify and respond to emerging conflict risks. Local actors are trained to monitor tensions and report early warning signs. Timely response mechanisms prevent escalation. Proactive conflict monitoring contributes to sustained peace.
Women in Peace Processes
We promote meaningful participation of women in peace-building and conflict resolution efforts. Training and advocacy strengthen women’s leadership in dialogue and mediation spaces. Inclusive peace processes lead to more durable outcomes. Women’s voices are essential for sustainable stability.
Peacebuilding Through Media (Radio Sahan)
We use community media, including Radio Sahan, as a platform to promote dialogue, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence. Radio programs address conflict drivers, counter misinformation, and amplify voices of youth, women, and local leaders. Interactive discussions encourage community participation and constructive debate. Media-driven engagement strengthens social cohesion and supports locally led peace efforts.
