Inclusive Governance & ISA

<p>SFS strengthens inclusive and accountable governance by promoting citizen participation, youth engagement, and women’s leadership in decision-making processes. Programmes support communities to actively engage with local authorities through civic education, dialogue platforms, and participatory tools such as community scorecards and social audits.</p><p>SFS also builds the capacity of local governments to improve service delivery, transparency, and public financial management. Child Protection & Safeguarding

<p>SFS delivers comprehensive child protection services focused on prevention, response, and system strengthening. Programmes include case management, family tracing and reunification, and psychosocial support to ensure the safety and well-being of vulnerable children. Safe spaces and community-based protection structures are established to promote resilience and early risk detection.</p><p>SFS also addresses gender-based violence, child labor, and early marriage through community engagement and survivor-centered support. Institutional safeguarding and PSEA systems are strengthened to ensure accountability, ethical conduct, and protection across all programmes. Overall, the approach prioritizes child safety, dignity, and long-term protection within families and communities.</p><p><strong>Priority Areas:</strong></p><h3 style="text-align: justify;">Case Management &amp; Referral Systems</h3><p style="text-align: justify;">We provide structured case management services for children at risk of abuse, neglect, exploitation, or separation. Each case is assessed individually, and tailored support plans are developed in line with best-interest principles. We coordinate closely with health, legal, and social service providers to ensure safe and timely referrals. Confidentiality, dignity, and child safety guide every step of our response.</p><h3 style="text-align: justify;">Prevention and Response to Gender-Based Violence (GBV)</h3><p style="text-align: justify;">We implement community-based prevention initiatives that challenge harmful norms and promote gender equality. Education & Learning

<p>Somali Family Services (SFS) delivers inclusive, resilient, and quality education programmes designed to support children and youth across all stages of learning, particularly those affected by vulnerability, displacement, and crisis. Our approach spans the full education continuum—from early childhood to youth employability—combining access, quality, and protection.</p><h3><strong>Priority Areas:</strong></h3><h3 style="text-align: justify;">Early Childhood Education (ECE)</h3><p style="text-align: justify;">We support early learning for children aged 3–6 to build strong cognitive, social, and emotional foundations. Our ECE programs focus on play-based learning, school readiness, and parental engagement. We prioritize access for vulnerable and displaced children. Early investment improves long-term education outcomes and resilience.</p><h3 style="text-align: justify;">Accelerated Basic Education (ABE) and Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL)</h3><p style="text-align: justify;">We provide flexible learning opportunities for out-of-school children and over-age learners to complete primary education. Through Teaching at the Right Level, instruction is tailored to children’s actual learning levels rather than age or grade. This approach improves literacy and numeracy outcomes rapidly. Livelihoods & Household Resilience

<p>SFS strengthens livelihoods and economic resilience by supporting vulnerable households and communities to generate sustainable income and withstand shocks. Programmes combine short-term recovery interventions—such as cash-for-work—with long-term solutions including savings groups, microenterprise development, and market systems strengthening.</p><p>SFS promotes climate-smart agriculture, livestock support, and food security to protect and diversify livelihoods, particularly in climate-affected and pastoral communities. Youth employability is enhanced through skills training, apprenticeships, and job placement, while financial literacy builds stronger economic decision-making.</p><p>Through integrated approaches to disaster risk reduction and nutrition-sensitive livelihoods, SFS enables communities to transition from vulnerability to self-reliance and long-term economic stability.</p><h3><strong>Priority Areas:</strong></h3><h3 style="text-align: justify;">Cash-for-Work (CFW)</h3><p>We implement cash-for-work programs that provide temporary income while rehabilitating community assets.
