An impressive number of Somalis from the Twin Cities area are engaged in support for education and development efforts in Somalia.  From libraries to education; economic development to health care these efforts are helping Somalia emerge from decades of war and impoverishment.

We hope to bring together local Somalis who are engaged—or hope to be engaged—in this work.  What are we doing? What are we learning?  What are the challenges?  What resources have we found within and outside the Somali community?  Who else is doing this work?  Are there ways to support each other and create synergy?

In order to make it possible for the most people to attend, we will be holding the session twice.  Choose either or both: Thursday, March 14, 5 PM, Social Science Building, room 609, OR Friday, March 29th, 12 noon, and same location.  The address and directions are 267 19th Avenue S Minneapolis, MN 55455. http://www1.umn.edu/twincities/maps/SocSci/. Light refreshments will be served.

We expect the conversation to run about an hour or so.  Please feel free to invite people you think might be interested.
