The project on countering violent extremism through community dialogue forums aims to engage with the area communities including the youth between 14-29 age bracket in Jubaland and South West States of Somalia to generate responses from communities and individuals that result into a commitment to addressing the identified problems (issues)/gaps in a participatory manner, deeper understanding of the nature of the problem of violent extremism among individuals and communities in order to influence change., surfacing common issues and the resources to address them, (help identify barriers to positive change and uncover innovative ideas .The project adopts a Communications for Development approach, using community dialogues and discussion forums as well as bottom –up approach in mapping localized problems and interventions.

 
Project objective includes but not limited to the following: To gain an understanding from the community on what is the key challenges that make the community susceptible to violent extremism; To gain a better understanding of the drivers of violent extremism among the community; Identify the key mitigating factors of the drivers of violent extremism in the community; Come up with realistic and feasible mitigating factors that will be shared with the donor for subsequent funding on the problems identified
